These are for flights in early 2014, and can be found directly on American’s website (http://www.aa.com/). There is a visa required for US citizens, but if you’re transiting to another country within 72 hours, this requirement can be waived. If you don’t specifically want to visit China, you can book these flights and then book a cheap intra-Asia flight to another country, as long as it departs less than 72 hours after you arrive in Beijing. New York to Dublin, Ireland: $490 roundtrip Travel between October 27 – December 12, or January 9 – March 27. Tickets must be purchased by September 10. This is a great deal to jump on right away, but I’ve posted a Guide for How to Fly to Ireland in First Class for Under $300 – that deal is still available, so it’s definitely worth checking out.
Norwegian Air Shuttle (www.norwegian.com) has launched a sale to Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen in May and June 2014, primarily from NYC and Ft Lauderdale. Some sample fares: NYC to Oslo: $363 Ft. Lauderdale to Copenhagen: $521 It should be noted that Norwegian Air Shuttle is a low-cost carrier, where you do have to pay for checked bags and for meals onboard…but at these prices, it’s still a great opportunity to visit this area of the world.
In honor of the Guru’s soon to be niece, an exciting piece of news has just been announced. EVA Airways, based in Taipei, Taiwan has several aircraft that are completely decked out in a Hello Kitty theme. It was just announced that EVA AIr will now be flying their special Hello Kitty planes to the US, specifically to LAX starting later this month.
