If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’ve no doubt heard me talk about Uber – the relatively new on-demand car service that has revolutionized the taxi industry.  The Mrs. Guru and I use Uber all the time, both here in North Carolina and in cities around the country.  In most cities, it’s equivalent or cheaper than a taxi, there’s full transparency about the route the driver takes you (you get an email receipt with a map showing the route that the driver took), and it’s completely cashless.  You rate your driver (and your driver rates you), which helps keep the quality high.  Cars are new and in good condition, and drivers are generally much friendlier and much better drivers than practically every taxi out there.

Uber has a referral program that normally offers $20 in credit for referring friends – your friend gets a $20 credit to use on their first ride, and you get a free ride up to $20 after your friend takes their first ride.  Last summer, Uber increased their sign up bonus to $30, but that promotion officially expired on November 23 (although there was still a way to get a $30 bonus through December 31, 2014).

Through this coming weekend (February 15, 2015), the increased $30 Uber sign up bonus is back!  If you don’t already have an Uber account, you can sign up using a friend’s referral link, or you can use my link here.  We’ll both get a $30 free ride credit, and I’ll greatly appreciate the support!
