Charlotte to/from NYC Area: $41 roundtrip!

NYC

Update – Reader Taylor asked a great question: “Is this fare available in both directions?  In other words, can you start in Trenton and fly to Charlotte?”  The answer is yes!  The fare is available in both directions, starting in either Charlotte or Trenton.  I’ve updated the post to reflect that the deal is good both to or from the NYC area.

Frontier Airlines will be starting service to Charlotte next week, with their first flight on February 12, and they’re starting off with a bang.  They fly to Trenton, NJ, which is a little ways outside of New York City (about 1.5 hours).  It’s not directly connected to the city (you’ll have to take a cab to the Trenton train station, and then take the train into the city…or just grab a rental car from the Trenton airport), but roundtrip flights are as low as $41 – including all taxes and fees!  Nope, I didn’t miss a digit before the 4…it’s about $20 each way.  They don’t fly every day of the week, but there are a few dates left later in February:

CLT-TTN February

…and plenty of availability in later months:

CLT-TTN May

 CLT-TTN June

It looks like this deal expires today, February 7 so you’d need to book your tickets before midnight tonight.

Frontier is somewhat of a low-cost airline, where the cheapest fares do not include checked luggage, advanced seat assignment, etc.  You can check out their specific fees here – this deal is for a Basic fare, which in my opinion is still reasonable (carry-on bags are still free, although Frontier will start charging for carry-ons for tickets purchased after August 6, 2014).  You do have to pay for any drinks on-board, but for a 90 minute flight, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.  Other than families traveling who need to get seats together or folks who need to check a bag, you should be able to get away without any extra fees.

As with most (if not all) US airlines, you have 24 hours to cancel for a full refund, so book now, think later!

Who’s up for a quick weekend in NYC?!  If anybody books this deal, leave a post in the comments below, and I’ll put together a post with a How-To Guide for getting in and out of NYC from Trenton.
